Title: The Reflections of Queen Snow White Copyright: 2013 Author: David Meredith Cover Art: Matt Huges
What happens when “happily ever after” has come and gone? This question starts of the book description of David Meredith’s poignant look at the life of Snow White after the death of her beloved Charming. This leap forward into the life of the well known fairy tale princess begins with a queen in a deep state if mourning. She is unable to cope with the loss of her husband of thirty years. She wishes to join him, but made a promise to her king to never try to harm herself.
Through her reflections she comes to realize that she is inflicting some of pain, neglect and torment that she suffered onto her daughter. Readers will be immersed in the life of an abused child who becomes queen.
This isn’t a suitable story for children, but teens and adults will enjoy this look at Snow White’s struggle with depression and search for a purpose in life, following a devastating loss.
David style of writing vividly paints a picture of the time period, and moves the fairy tale Snow White into a real woman who is completely believable. I will be looking forward to more books from this talented author.
I purchased this on my Kindle, so I would have a true reaction as a book purchaser. I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical, but intrigued. The Reflections of Queen Snow White was a pleasant surprise! There is some violence and sexual content woven through Snow White’s reflections of her early life, but I highly recommend this book for older Snow White fans.
David Meredith, well done. This book is a solid four star on my book meter.
